On Thursday, June 6, 2024, about 4:31 p.m. central daylight time, a 2021 Chrysler 300S sedan (Chrysler) was traveling west on Farm to Market Road 1433 (FM 1433), near Carrizo Springs, Dimmit County, Texas. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Chrysler was traveling about 87 to 100 mph through a curve when it crossed the roadway centerline and struck a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck (Dodge) traveling in the opposite direction. In the area of the crash, FM 1433 is a two-lane, two-way asphalt roadway with a posted speed limit of 60 mph and an advisory speed limit of 30 mph through the curve. Following the collision between the two vehicles, a postcrash fire consumed the Chrysler.

Two children (ages 5 and 9) in the rear seat of the Dodge sustained serious injuries. At the time of the crash, it was daylight, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry.
