Collision of US Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Harry S. Truman and Bulk Carrier Besiktas M

What Happened

​On February 12, 2025, about 2346 local time (eastern European time), the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and the Panama-flagged bulk carrier Besiktas-M collided near Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea. There were no injuries, and no pollution was reported. Both vessels sustained damages above the waterline. Damages are estimated to exceed $75,000.

The casualty was classified by the US Coast Guard as a public/nonpublic casualty. The Coast Guard is investigating on behalf of the NTSB . NTSB will analyze factual material gathered by the Coast Guard to determine probable cause.
