On May 18, 2025, about 0351 local time (central daylight time), the Liberia-flagged liquified petroleum gas carrier Gas Gemini was underway from its anchorage in Sabine (east) Anchorage in the Gulf of America and bound for the pilot boarding station off Sabine Pass when its propeller became fouled on the anchor chain of the nearby anchored Bahamas-flagged liquified petroleum gas carrier Corvette. Soon after, the starboard quarter of the Gas Gemini struck the anchored vessel’s starboard bow. There were no injuries, and no pollution was reported. Damages to both vessels are estimated to exceed $500,000. The US Coast Guard has declared this incident a major marine casualty. The Coast Guard will lead the investigation, and the NTSB will investigate and determine the probable cause.
