On May 17, 2025, about 1619 local time (eastern daylight time), US Coast Guard Sector Miami received notifications from multiple sources that the 52-foot-long recreational vessel Y Knot was on fire at Miami Beach Marina, Miami Beach, Florida. No one was aboard the vessel at the time of the fire. The Miami Beach Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The vessel, which had an estimated value of $2 million, was deemed a total loss. There were no injuries, and no pollution was reported.
Our initial investigation did not identify significant transportation safety issues. We determined that additional investigation and use of resources are not warranted at this time. We have produced an investigation close-out memorandum, which can be found in our docket.
