On March 12, 2025, about 1700 local time (central daylight time), a fire occurred aboard the offshore supply vessel Blue Mati while it was moored for a shipyard period at Superior Shipyard in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. The crew attempted, but was unable to, extinguish the fire. All six crewmembers subsequently evacuated the vessel, and the fire was extinguished by local responders. There were no injuries and no pollution was reported. Damages are expected to exceed $500,000.
The US Coast Guard has declared this incident a major marine casualty. The Coast Guard will lead the investigation, and the NTSB will investigate and determine the probable cause.
