On February 22, 2025, about 0044 local time (eastern standard time), a fire broke out at the Towndock Marina in New Rochelle, New York. New Rochelle Fire Department responded and the fire was extinguished. Five recreational vessels were damaged. Two people sustained minor injuries. An oil sheen from vessel fuel extended into the New Rochelle Harbor channel.Damages are expected to exceed $500,000. Damage to the vessels was estimated at $750,000.
Our initial investigation did not identify significant transportation safety issues. We determined that additional investigation and use of resources are not warranted at this time. We have produced an investigation close-out memorandum, which can be found in our docket.
