On August 5, 2024, at 2043 local time (eastern daylight time), US Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a notification from Sarasota Fire Rescue about a fire on board the recreational yacht Steady AF, which was moored at Longboat Key Club Marina in Longboat Key, Florida. Responders fought the fire for over 9 hours, and, eventually, the vessel partially sank. No pollution or injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $4.4 million.
Our initial investigation did not identify significant transportation safety issues. We determined that additional investigation and use of resources are not warranted at this time. We have produced an investigation close-out memorandum, which can be found in our docket.
