Fire at Port Orchard Marina

What Happened

​​​On October 7, 2020, about 0530 Pacific daylight time, a recreational vessel moored at the Port Orchard Marina in Washington caught fire. The fire damaged three adjacent vessels and the dock. There was no one on board the recreational vessel, and there were no injuries reported.

The accident was classified by the US Coast Guard as a major marine casualty. The NTSB will lead the investigation.

What We Found

​​The NTSB’s initial investigation of this accident did not identify significant transportation safety issues. The Office of Marine Safety has determined that additional investigation and utilization of resources is not warranted at this time. The NTSB has produced an investigation close-out memorandum.
