The National Transportation Safety Board launched a go-team to investigate an accident in Casselton, North Dakota where a BNSF grain train derailed and a train traveling in the opposite direction carrying crude oil struck the derailment and derailed. There was a significant post-crash fire.
Rail Safety Investigator Richard Hipskind will serve as the investigator-in-charge. Board Member Robert L. Sumwalt accompanied the team and served as the principal spokesman during the on-scene phase of the investigation.
