The
Safer Seas Digest, issued annually by the Office of Marine Safety, summarizes by casualty type the investigations completed in the previous year. Developed specifically for the marine community, the digest shares the circumstances of the casualties and lessons learned discovered during our investigations. Past lessons learned have discussed issues such as vessel stability, engine room fire containment, risk management, and crew communication—to name a few.
It is our hope that mariners apply the knowledge uncovered in our investigations to mitigate or prevent future marine casualties—and save lives.
