The NTSB Transportation Disaster Assistance (TDA) Division coordinates federal government resources to support local and state governments, disaster relief organizations, and transportation operators to address concerns of survivors, families, and friends following a transportation accident investigated by the NTSB.

The NTSB TDA Division serves as the primary point of contact for survivors, families, and friends regarding NTSB investigations. TDA Specialists provide information regarding the investigative process including updates on reports and products released publicly as a result of the investigation. TDA Specialists can also assist survivors, families, and friends with accessing available family assistance resources through appropriate organizations.

Family Assistance Response Community
The NTB TDA Division works closely with local, state, tribal and federal agencies, non-governmental and private organizations, and transportation operators during the preparedness phase of the disaster management cycle to assist with planning an effective family assistance response following transportation accidents. TDA Specialists can collaborate with the family assistance response community to ensure key concepts and operational aspects of a family assistance operation are understood and implemented during a response.
