​The NTSB launched a team to investigate the accident in the Houston Ship Channel (HSC) involving the bulk carrier MV Conti Peridot and the tanker Carla Maersk. The outbound 599.1 foot Danish registered chemical tanker Carla Maersk collided head-on with the inbound 623.3 foot Liberian registered freighter Conti Peridot at Light 86, near Morgan's Point, TX.
