On May 1, 1998, a China Northern McDonnell Douglas MD-80 experienced a double engine power loss near Wuhan, People's Republic of China. The airplane was descending from 33,500 feet when both International Aero Engine/Pratt & Whitney engines rolled back for about 90 seconds. Power was recovered and the flight landed at Wuhan uneventfully. The incident is being investigated by the Chinese government.
