On March 1, 1999, at approximately 0905 UTC, N285f, a Lockheed L-188, operated as Chanex flight 6526 by Renown Aviation, Inc., contacted the runway during an inadvertent wheels up approach to landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland (EINN). The flight was operating as an all cargo flight under contract to Channel Express Airlines of the United Kingdom. The aircraft was substantially damaged but the crew was able to initiate a go-around after the propellers had contacted the runway. They turned downwind and made an emergency landing with the wheels down on the same runway. None of the three flight crew or three additional crewmembers on board was injured.
