NTSB SENDS INVESTIGATORS TO ASSIST IN AIR CHINA B-767 CRASH

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of investigators to assist the Government of South Korea in its investigation of today’s crash of a Air China Boeing 767-200ER near the city of Pusan. Flight 129 from Beijing had apparently been diverted from Pusan to Seoul due to adverse weather conditions when the crash occurred. Local authorities report that there are survivors among the 166 persons believed to be aboard.

NTSB investigator Al Dickinson is the U.S. Accredited Representative to the Korean investigation. Four other NTSB investigators will accompany him, as will representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing Commercial Airplane Group.

Information on the progress of the investigation will be released by the Korean government.
