NTSB TO HOST SYMPOSIUM ON GENERAL AVIATION ACCIDENT PREVENTION


Washington, DC - The National Transportation Safety Board will host a general aviation accident prevention symposium to be held on September 21-22, in Washington, D.C.

The Safety Board is hosting the symposium to discuss operational, airworthiness, and maintenance issues involved in general aviation accidents. NTSB investigators will present information on selected accidents, followed by panel discussions involving aviation industry experts from training, maintenance, regulatory, academia, association, military, and manufacturing entities.

"We all know that general aviation safety can be improved and that we all are responsible for making that happen," said NTSB Chairman Jim Hall. "The symposium is important because it will bring together government, the industry and the general aviation community for a common purpose - to prevent accidents and save lives."

The symposium will feature panel discussions on the following safety issues :

General aviation accidents represent the majority of aircraft accidents annually, and the symposium will provide a unique opportunity to hear a discussion on the factors, causes, and preventive measures. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to learn and help develop solutions for preventing some of the leading causes of general aviation accidents.

The two day symposium, which will be held in the NTSB Board Room/Conference Center at NTSB headquarters, located at L'Enfant Plaza, Washington, D.C., will begin on September 21 at 8:30 a.m.

Directions to the Conference Center: Front door located on Lower 10th Street, directly below L'Enfant Plaza. From Metro, exit L'Enfant Plaza station at 9th and D Streets escalator, walk through shopping mall, at CVS Pharmacy take escalator down one level. Conference Center will be to the left.
