Video #1 This animated shows the results of a simulation which closely matched the physical evidence and vehicle motions. The animation ends at the point in the center median where the bus rolled over.
Video #2 This animation shows the results of one of the numerical simulations which demonstrate the potential benefits of stability control in accident circumstances like the Dolan Springs accident. The blue bus shown in the video is equipped with a stability control system. The white bus is not. The initial speed of both buses in the simulation is 71 mph, or approximately the same speed of the Dolan Springs bus. Both buses shown in the animation are being steered by a driver model which is attempting to steer a path similar to the accident bus. After veering onto the right shoulder the driver model attempts to steer the two buses safely back onto the roadway.
