Vice Chairman Hart Presents to the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps

February 3, 2011

On January 25, Vice Chairman Hart made a presentation to several members of the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps during their visit to the U.S. to discuss their efforts to greatly improve road safety. The Vice Chairman provided a short talk on the role of NTSB in conducting accident investigations, and making recommendations to affected parties following determination of probable cause. The Chairman of the Federal Road Safety Corps was very interested in how much importance we place on making accident investigation separate and independent from enforcement, as well as the fact that such a high percentage of our recommendations are implemented despite our lack of mandating authority.
