Member Weener Speaks to National Business Aviation Association’s Safety Committee
June 23, 2011

On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, Member Weener spoke to the National Business Aviation Association’s Safety Committee at their annual strategic planning meeting, in White Plains, New York.  Member Weener’s presentation highlighted a number of NTSB concerns related specifically to the business aviation community.  It was encouraging to find that a number of the topics Member Weener addressed were also topics scheduled for discussion by the Committee as well, including runway excursions and pilot professionalism.  In addition, Member Weener stressed the importance of understanding icing conditions and flying in such conditions, and highlighted NTSB recommendations and FAA recent actions concerning rest and duty requirements, crew resource management, and safety management systems.  The presentation yielded a robust discussion of all the topics and provided an opportunity for the NTSB to reach key safety representatives in the business aviation industry.
