NTSB Launches Go-Team to Motorcoach Accident in the Bronx 

 On Saturday, March 12, 2011, the National Transportation Safety Board launched a go-team to investigate a crash involving a motorcoach in the Bronx borough of New York City.  Robert Accetta is the Investigator-in-Charge and led NTSB’s 16-member response team.  The Safety Board's Vice Chairman, Christopher A. Hart accompanied the team, serving as the on-scene spokesman and held three press briefings and conducted numerous individual media interviews.  

 

The accident motorcoach, operated by World Wide Tours, crashed on I-95N at approximately 5:30 a.m. (EST).  As a result of the accident, 15 passengers were killed. 

 

While the on-scene phase of the investigation lasted one week, the full investigation remains ongoing. 

 

Parties to the investigation are: World Wide Travel of Greater New York, Ltd., FHWA, Webster Truck Company, FMSCA, New York State Police, New York City Police Department , New York State DOT, (MCSAP), New York State DOT (Highway), Prevost, and the New York State Thruway Authority
