California Senators Praise NTSB's Work During San Bruno On-Scene Investigation

On September 28, 2010, NTSB Vice Chairman Christopher A. Hart testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing regarding the San Bruno pipeline rupture.  During the hearing, California Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer were very complimentary of the NTSB.

Senator Feinstein is quoted saying “And so, I think the best way to approach this, really, is to listen to the NTSB.  I had the privilege of listening to all of Chris Hart's press statements, and I can tell the three of you, we can be very proud of the National Transportation Safety Board.  The releases have all been factual, they've all been practical. And, I think that this is one part of government that really is functioning very well on behalf of the people it represents.”

Senator Boxer said, “The investigation is ongoing, and it will take a while.  And the NTSB is phenomenal; I share Senator Feinstein's confidence.”
