NTSB LAUNCHES TO FREIGHT TRAIN DERAILMENT, EXPLOSION NEAR BALTIMORE

The National Transportation Safety Board launched a go-team to investigate today's railroad grade crossing accident and explosion near Baltimore, Md., that occurred at approximately 2:00 PM (EDT) this afternoon.

NTSB highway safety Investigator Peter Kotowski will serve as the investigator-in-charge. NTSB Board Member Robert L. Sumwalt is accompanying the team and will serve as the principal spokesperson during the on-scene phase of the investigation.
