NTSB Chairman to Testify Before the Senate Commerce Committee on Pipeline Safety

WASHINGTON - National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah A. P. Hersman will appear before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to testify about pipeline safety.

Chairman Hersman will provide an overview of the NTSB's ongoing investigation into the cause of a natural gas transmission pipeline rupture that occurred in Sissonville, West Virginia on Dec.11, 2012.

Accidents involving pipelines continue to be a significant transportation and public safety concern for the NTSB which is why improving pipeline safety was added the agency's Most Wanted List of transportation safety improvements this year.
