NTSB Launches Team to Investigate Amtrak Derailment near Niles, Michigan

October 21

WASHINGTON - The National Transportation Safety Board is launching a team to investigate a train derailment that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 10:10 AM EDT, the Amtrak train, "Wolverine 350", travelling eastbound, derailed near Niles, Michigan.

NTSB Railroad Investigator Michael Flanigon is leading the team and will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
