National Transportation Safety Board
Office of Public Affairs
Washington, D.C. - The National Transportation Safety Board today announced that its Office of Family Affairs will be renamed the Office of Transportation Disaster Assistance (TDA). The name change reflects the broad range of the Office's duties since it was established in 1996 and the extension of its services in many cases to all modes of transportation covered by the NTSB. During recent accidents, the former Family Affairs Office worked with survivors of accidents, families of victims, as well as people affected in the community. As a result, the Board chose the new office name to better describe the services provided by the staff.
The name change will be effective immediately.
