Calculator for Filing Deadlines
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Office of Administrative Law Judges presents this calculator as a tool to assist in determining due dates. However, it is the responsibility of the user to manually verify dates in accordance with the applicable Board Rule. (See 49 C.F.R. Sections 821.10, 821.24(a), 821.30(a), 821.31(b), 821.53(a), 821.54(a) and 821.55(b).)
Please note that in computing filing dates for Notices of Appeals, Answers and Petitions for Review of Certificate Denials, the date of service is the date on which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mails the order or complaint to the certificate holder, or the denial letter to the applicant. The mailing date is usually stamped on the first page of the document, and there may also be a certificate of service attached to the document that denotes the date of mailing. You should also note that weekends and legal holidays are included in the computation. However if a due date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, your filing is due by the end of the next day that is not a weekend or legal holiday.
In computing the due date for filing Petitions for Review of the FAA’s Emergency Determinations, the date of receipt of the order by the airman is used instead of the service date, and weekends and legal holidays are not included in the filing date computation.
