On March 22, 2003, at 1524 universal coordinated time, a Piper PA-31, Norwegian registration LN-AEY, was substantially damaged during a forced landing in Niedersachsen, Germany. According to the initial notification from the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation, the airplane was in cruise flight when the engine caught fire. The pilot then decided to perform a forced landing.
