On June 13, 2002, at 0656 hours Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), a Boeing 747-240B, Pakistan registration AP-BAT, operating as Pakistan International Airways, experienced a component structural failure and separation on the no. 3 engine during landing rollout onto runway 24R at Manchester International Airport , Manchester, United Kingdom. None of the 295 passengers and crewmembers were injured, and the airplane received minor damage. Daylight visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time. The no. 3 engine was a General Electric model CF6, and the pieces of it were found on the runway. The flight had departed from the John F. Kennedy International Airport near New York City, New York, and was destined for Manchester. The investigation is being conducted by the United Kingdom's Department of Transport, Air Accidents Investigation Branch, Berhsire Copse Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 2HH, United Kingdom.
