On February 11, 2002, approximately 1645 central standard time, a Quick Silver MXL II Sport unregistered experimental homebuilt airplane, owned and operated by a private individual, was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a loss of power near Gatesville, Texas. The airline transport pilot and his one passenger received minor injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a flight plan was not followed for the Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The airplane was powered by a Rotax model 503 engine. The reason for the loss of power could not be determined. The owner informed the NTSB that he disposed of the wreckage after the accident. Repeated attempts to contact the pilot regarding information on this accident were not successful.
