On September 29, 2000, a Federal Express MD-11 experienced a malfunction of the #2 engine while passing through 700 ft on takeoff. The crew received a #2 engine fire light which lasting 4 seconds before going out. The engine then started to deteriorate with no indication of vibration or compressor stall. All cowlings aft of the engine are gone including the exhaust cowling. The Philippine Air Transportation Office will be responsible for an investigation.
