On November 27, 2001, at 1545 central standard time, a LET 410 UVP-E twin-engine transport airplane, Mexican registration XA-SJY, was destroyed after ditching in the ocean following a total loss of engine power during cruise flight near Playa del Carmen, State of Quintana Roo, in the Republic of Mexico. The airplane was owned and operated by Aero Ferinco S.A. de C.V., a Mexican certificated on-demand regional and international air taxi operator based at the Cozumel International Airport. The two pilots and the 2 company employees aboard the airplane were rescued by a Mexican Navy vessel and were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the planned 18-mile repositioning flight.
