On July 10, 1998, a MU2, Brazilian registration PT-LTC, experienced an uncontained engine failure during takeoff. The flightcrew stopped the airplane on the runway. There were no injuries. The pieces of the engine punctured the fuel tank resulting substantial fire damage. The accident is being investigated by the government of Brazil.
