On June 18, 2007, about 0907 New Zealand local time, a Hawker-Beechcraft 1900D, New Zealand registration ZK-EAK, was landed with the landing gear retracted following failure of the landing gear system, at Woodbourne Air Station, Marlborough, New Zealand. The flight was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Timaru, New Zealand to Wellington, New Zealand. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time, and an instrument flight rules flight plan was filed. The pilot, copilot, and 17 passengers were not injured. The airplane incurred substantial damage. The flight originated from Timaru, the same day, at 0711.

According to an official with the New Zealand TAIC, while on an ILS approach to Wellington International Airport, the first officer placed the landing gear control into the extended position. They received no gear intransit indicator light and they did not hear any noises associated with the hydraulic pump operating. They performed a missed approach and went into a holding pattern to trouble shoot the landing gear system and attempt to lower the landing gear manually. They were unsuccessful in lowering the landing gear and diverted to Woodbourne Air Station, where a gear up landing was made. After sliding for 422 meters, the airplane came to a stop and the pilots and passenger exited the airplane through the main cabin door. Examination of the airplane showed the right main landing gear actuator housing had fractured and allowed all hydraulic fluid to drain from the system.
