On March 18, 2002, at approx. 2218 local time, a Varig B-727-30C cargo airplane, registration PP-VLV, departed the runway after landing at Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The airplane came to rest adjacent to the runway. Damage was sustained to the left main landing gear, nose landing gear, forward fuselage belly, left engine, and left wing and flaps. There were no injuries to the 3 flight crew members on board. The investigation is being conducted by the air safety division (DIPAA) of the Brazilian Civil Aviation Department.
