THE ACFT CARTWHEELED SEVERAL TIMES AND CAME TO REST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY ABOUT 500 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. THE WEATHER WAS VMC BUT THE WIND WAS FROM 260 DEGREES AT 18 KTS. THE PILOT STATED HE LOST CONTROL OF THE ACFT BECAUSE OF THE HIGH WIND VELOCITY.
