THE PLT STATED THAT WHILE ENROUTE HE 'STAYED BENEATH' THE PREVAILING BROKEN CLOUD CONDITION UNTIL ENTERING THE MOUNTAINOUS AREA AT WHICH TIME HE SAW A HOLE IN THE CLOUDS & BEGAN TO 'CLIMB THROUGH IT.' SHORTLY AFTER HE INITIATED THE CLIMB THE ACFT STRUCK THE WIRES.
