NTSB investigators may not have traveled in support of this investigation and used data provided by various sources to prepare this aircraft accident report.ACCORDING TO THE PLT, HE FLEW OVER A FROZEN LAKE, THEN ENCOUNTERED REDUCED VISIBILITY DOWN TO ABOUT 1/8 MI. HE MADE A 180 DEG TURN, BUT LOST ALL REFERECNE TO THE TERRAIN DURING THE TURN. SHORTLY AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN, HE WAS PROCEEDING EASTBOUND & WAS SLOWING THE ACFT WHEN IT IMPACTED THE SURFACE, THEN SLID ABOUT 100 FT & CAME TO REST. THE PLT STATED THAT HE HAD ENCOUNTERED A WHITEOUT CONDITION.
