PLT SIGHTED AN ARPT THROUGH BREAKS IN CLOUDS AND DECIDED TO LAND. THE ACFT TOUCHED DOWN SHORT OF A CLOSED RWY, PARTIALLY COLLAPSING THE LEFT GEAR. IT THEN BOUNCED UP ONTO THE RWY AND FULLY COLLAPSED THE LEFT GEAR.
