THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT THE WELD WHERE THE AXLE ATTACHES TO THE LANDING GEAR STRUT. EXAMINATION OF THE FRACTURE REVEALED A PRE-EXISTING CRACK THAT WAS NOT DETECTED PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT.
