ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER, THE AIRPLANE BRIEFLY ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURBULENCE WHILE PASSING THROUGH ABOUT FL230. A FLIGHT ATTENDANT SUSTAINED A BROKEN ANKLE DURING THE ENCOUNTER.
