On April 19, 2000, at about 1721 Greenwich mean time, a Cessna 150J, England registry G-INGR, registered to a private owner, and a Yakovlev 50, Russian registry RA02030, registered to a private owner, experienced a midair collision in the traffic pattern at North Weald Aerodrome, Epping Essex, England, while operating as a private flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed for either aircraft. Both airplanes were destroyed. The Cessna airline transport pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The Yakovlev private pilot was fatally injured. The Cessna pilot departed from North Weald Aerodrome at an undetermined time. The Yakovlev pilot departed from Little Gransden, England about 21 minutes before the accident.
