On May 4, 1997, time unknown, a Piper PA-23-250, N570VR, registered to a private individual, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about 5 miles southeast of Bimini, Bahamas. Weather conditions at the accident site are unknown and no flight plan was filed. The airplane was substantially damaged and the pilot, the sole occupant, was fatally injured. The time of departure from Andros Island, Bahamas, has not been determined.

The flight which took place on May 4, 1997 was reported overdue by family. The airplane was located on June 7, 1997, in about 7-8 feet of water. There was no reported Air Traffic Control contact with the accident airplane.
