NTSB TO MEET ON WEATHER-RELATED SMALL PLANE ACCIDENTS AND 2004 REGIONAL AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT IN PUERTO RICO


The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public Board meeting on Wednesday, September 7, at 9:30 a.m., in its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC.

Two items are on the agenda:

Safety Study: Risk Factors Associated With Weather-Related General Aviation Accidents. The study looked at a series of general aviation accidents seeking to identify pilot and flight-related factors associated with an increased risk of accidents, and ways of mitigating those factors. Aviation Accident Report: Crash During Landing, Executive Airlines Flight 5401, ATR-72-212, N438AT, San Juan, PR, May 9, 2004. The American Eagle flight made a hard landing; initial examination indicated the left landing gear separated from the airplane. There were 13 minor injuries among the 19 passengers and 4 crew on board. Media Contact: Terry Williams (202) 314-6100.
