NTSB To Hold Public Meeting July 24: Nieuw Amsterdam Passenger Vessel Fire,
And Amtrak Derailment In Arlington, TX
Washington DC - The National Transportation Safety Board holds a public Board meeting Tuesday, July 24 at 9:30 a.m., at its Board Room and Conference Center, 426 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C. There are two items on the agenda:
Marine accident brief report: Accident brief report on the investigation of a fire on board the passenger vessel Nieuw Amsterdam, May 23, 2000. There were no fatalities. As a result of the fire the ship suffered $360,000 of property damage. Press Officer: Lauren Peduzzi
Railroad accident report: Derailment of Amtrak passenger train in Arlington, TX, December 20, 1998. Twelve passengers and 10 employees were injured. Damages were estimated at approximately $1.4 million. Press Officer: Paul Schlamm
