FAA ACTION ON PILOT TRAINING RECORDS TO BE SUBJECT OF OCTOBER 19 BOARD MEETING
The National Transportation Safety Board holds a public Board meeting Tuesday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m., at its headquarters building, 490 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C., 5th floor meeting room.
The one item on the public agenda is a discussion of the Board’s response to the FAA’s action on an NTSB recommendation dealing with retention of certain information in airline pilot training records. On November 15, 1995, following the crash of a commuter plane in North Carolina the previous year, the Safety Board issued several recommendations to the FAA dealing with pilot training and performance records. The Board will discuss FAA actions pertaining to one of those recommendations (A-95-116), which stated:
Require airlines and independent facilities that train pilots for airlines to maintain pertinent standardized information on the quality of pilot performance in activities that assess skills…during training [and] check flights…and to use this information in quality assurance of individual performance and of the training program.
The meeting room is lighted for television, and has an audio mult box.
