Joseph Epperson, Senior Metallurgist in the NTSB’s Materials Laboratory was recently honored as an ASM International (formerly the American Society for Metals) Fellow. ASM claims to be the world’s largest association of materials scientists and engineers and is dedicated to informing, educating and connecting the materials community to solve problems and stimulate innovation around the world. ASM International established the honor of Fellow of ASM (FASM) in 1969 to provide recognition to ASM members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering. Recipients of one of the highest honors in the field of materials, ASM Fellows are technical and professional leaders who have been recognized by their colleagues and now serve as advisors to the society. Mr. Epperson was awarded Fellow "for outstanding contributions and advancements in the field of failure analysis, including leadership and service to transportation safety with high professional and societal impact."
