NTSB BOARD MEETING TOMORROW POSTPONED UNTIL AFTERNOON
The National Transportation Safety Board's public meeting scheduled for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, September 20, has been postponed until 3:00 p.m. that day.
Acting Chairman Mark Rosenker was dispatched over the weekend to Chicago to accompany the Board's Go Team investigating the fatal commuter train derailment that occurred on Saturday. He will not be able to return to Washington until mid-day Tuesday. Because the five-Member Board has two vacancies, Acting Chairman Rosenker's absence would prevent a quorum.
The item to be discussed at the meeting is an update to the NTSB's "Most Wanted List" of safety recommendations issued to the States. The Board will evaluate how responsive the States have been to these recommendations.
The State Most Wanted List has six issue areas (press

--Improved Child Occupant Protection (Paul Schlamm)
--Primary Seat Belt Laws (Terry Williams)
--Hard Core Drinking Driving (Lauren Peduzzi)
--School Buses at Grade Crossings (Lauren Peduzzi)
--Youth Highway Safety (Keith Holloway)
--Recreational Boating Safety (Keith Holloway)
The meeting will convene at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, in the NTSB Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C.
